Doing service in the rain.
Huge delicious grapes!
Movie night...big success!!!
Leadership meeting with my old zone leaders....them acting dorky...typical.
Sisters with Hna. Wilkinson. These are the other sister trainers.
I got my package!
Lots of clothes and shoes!!!!!! Thank you!
We contacted a baby shower...ha-ha.
Hermana Marquez and me in our apartment - acting dorky!
Ok.....lots to tell you
guys. It has been quite the week. Ha-ha. And yes...things are getting busier
and busier. The weeks are flying by so fast. It’s insane. I feel like we have so
many things to do each day. Finally...today I told my comp....can we just chill
today. So I took a two hour nap. I am so tired like all the time. Just starting
to get warn out. I'm going to go to the pharmacy to pick out some vitamins. I
think I'm deficient in something. Ha-ha. No worries. Plus we are doing more
exercise in the morning to clear our heads. It's great! But things are going
well.
We are teaching a woman
who will be baptized next week! She’s so stoked about it but we found out that
she is not married and her husband wants nothing to do with us. So pray that
she can either marry him or have the strength to leave him. I feel so bad that
these types of decisions face so many of the people who listen to the gospel
lessons and want to be baptized. We'll see. We’re teaching her tomorrow and Wednesday.
Hopefully she can progress. We are teaching another family!!!!! Oh wow they are
amazing! They came to our movie night - The Testament - and came to church on Sunday. They said that
they love our church. The husband is still a little bit anti-marriage. But he
is considering it more and more. Ha-ha. We taught them with another family in
the ward last night and it was a big success. The family that we brought were
perfect. They are about the same age and are both from Nicaragua and their kids
are apparently friends in school and have seen each other. It was awesome.
Small world. Nothing is a coincidence. They have a baptismal date for the end
of June. They are super excited about it. We are going to their house tonight
for FHE and to help their little boy with his English. They are a sweet family.
We contacted a few other families that we are excited to teach and a couple
other people. We had a fun night on Saturday night. Well...we did “divisions”
in a nearby area with another sister. While on divisions, we contacted a woman
and she gave me 7 references for our area in Belen. So we went to contact them
on Saturday with member. We knocked on the first door and saw that they were
having a Baby Shower. We asked if we could come in and help with cooking or something.
She said yes but then told us to sit down and enjoy ourselves. So awkward! Ha-ha
all the 25 women there were staring at us like who are you. We talked with a
few of them. Also...it was a surprise shower. So they turned off the lights. We
were trying so hard to not laugh. It was hilarious and awkward. It turns out
that Hna. Marquez had contacted the woman who is pregnant before, so they
actually knew each other and asked why we hadn't visited her. We sang them a
song – “As Sisters in Zion” - then explained relief society. We also passed
around family proclamation and pamphlets then a piece of paper with their name,
number and address if they wanted to learn more. We got 8 new investigators
that night. Hahahahahaha ya...so awesome. We couldn’t believe what happened. We
just couldn’t believe what happened. Later that night, we called Hna. Wilkinson
(mission president's wife) to tell her the story and she too was surprised and
so happy for us and such a surprising experience for us. It was great. The
things we do to find people. I think after my mission, every party I have, I'll
invite the missionaries so they can contact everyone there. Ha-ha. It was
great. Kimi....this is an idea for you for your next baby shower. Ha-ha. Families
can be together forever. What a great time to contact right? Anyway...so we had
that. Also...our movie night went really well. We actually had people come. We
had 4 investigators there and three families from the ward. We are doing it
again this week. One member told us that the movie helped remind him of his
testimony and said he wants to invite all his friends. So we are going to
continue doing it every week. I'm so excited about it! Things are just going
really well. We are working in the way that Christ would work and doing
service. we carry around two bags with us full of liahona's, books of Mormon,
pamphlets, proclamations and all of it to give to everyone we meet and see. It’s
been really great! We are just having so much fun and laughing! Really enjoying
our missions. I just hope that we can get some baptisms this month! Oh...I did
have an interesting lesson on my night of divisions. I taught a woman who was
like Korihor and Zeezrom mixed. She kept saying....where in the bible does it
talk about the Book of Mormon or this prophet, Lehi. When was the Book of Mormon
written? She said that there's no need for prophets today because we have the Holy
Ghost. It was so interesting. I just kept explaining the love of God and said
we respect her decision. But the other people in the lesson said they wanted to
learn more and yelled at her for saying there's no need for a prophet. Long
story but it was interesting. I felt the power of God with me. It was like he
was literally talking through me to this group of people. I felt like
ya....maybe don't have all the answers but I have my testimony. So I just
shared my testimony about prophets and Thomas S. Monson. It ended fine. Always
fun when you find people who think the bible is perfect and there's no need for
more. But my testimony was strengthened and I hope the other sister
missionaries can continue teaching them. We’ll see.
We have three divisions
planned for this week which should be fun. Ha-ha. They actually have gone well
and I have learned a lot. Hna. Wilkinson told me I totally should do the
counselor thing for children in elementary school to help them out. She said
that her daughter is going through the same thing I went through in Junior
High. I'm going to talk with her in a couple of weeks. She struggles with
weight and is being bullied in school. Totally understand that right? So my
comp and I are going to help her out and help her see her potential and how
much Heavenly Father loves her. I can really see how experiences that I have
had can help other people around me. It's amazing. I love it. Oh and we had our
meeting with President. Things went well. We listened to some challenges from Elder Duncan of the
70. It was cool. I got to see my old zone leaders again. They are goofy like
usual. It was a blast. We got to talk a little bit. Elder Lundberg will be
coming to the temple this Saturday for a sealing of a family that he taught so
might see him again this week. They are doing well. My comps are doing great! Happy.
I talked with Hna. Ponce last night. She told me that Pricilla and Yeudi
haven't been to church for two weeks because Yeudi has had to work. I told her
to bring them to the temple this week and I wrote them a little note. Marleni
and Fabiola will be baptized this Friday in Paraiso!!!! So awesome that their
family will all be members now. So great! And Jahleel is going early to church
to pass the sacrament. So proud of them. Just wish I could see them. It’s sad
when you can't be there for them on their big day. But super happy for them and
this decision they are finally making. Brenda is still going to church and a
great addition! Things are going well. I might see a few of them for Dayanna's
wedding this Saturday. We are going to stop by the wedding to say hi so that
will be fun. Just busy, busy. Well...have to go. But I love you all so much! Have
a great week. Be happy! Help the missionaries and love everyone around you. I'm
starting to learn about who I really am and what I have to offer. People here
love my crazy fun sincere personality. They describe me as short, redhead and
happy all the time. My friend Hna. Cardenaz went to do divisions in Rio Claro
and met Eliezer who was baptized. He said they miss me and to tell me hi! So
nice! I didn’t think that many people in Rio Claro liked or even remembered me – They said...oh short red head who is always happy. Ha-ha. Well...glad
I'm described as that. People say that I’m such a happy missionary. Hna. Marquez
said that I'm like tinker bell putting flowers where there are weeds. So
nice!!!! Pretty funny. I'm starting to
figure out that I actually have a lot to offer. I have a lot more confidence –
so much confidence in Heavenly Father. He has been so good to me. Loving my
mission!!! You are all in my prayers. Have a great week filled with success!!!!
Hna. Jones
P.S. 11 months
tomorrow!!! Bah!!!
